For those at the lowest rungs of America’s economic classes, the affordable housing crisis is bad and getting worse. According to a 2011-2013 study released in 2015 from the Urban Land Institute, not a single county in the United States has an adequate supply of affordable housing for those in extreme poverty.
The City of Covington is currently gathering public input on how to spend federal funds provided to the Northern Kentucky community through HUD's Community Development Block Grants.
Hamilton city officials are looking for public feedback on a list of items that will help form the city's action plan over the next year. The results will be included with applications for funds and assistance from HUD.
Efforts by area agencies to combat homelessness appear to be working. According to a newly released study, homelessness levels decreased throughout Hamilton County in 2014, and reached levels not seen since 2010.
